Wessex GMC to host genomics discussion events

Wessex Café Scientifique groups are invited to discuss: ‘The 100,000 Genomes Project; would you have your genome sequenced?’

In the coming months the Wessex GMC, supported by Wessex Academic Health Science Network, will hold a number of public engagement events across their region to raise awareness and contribute to the recruitment of patients for the 100,000 Genomes Project.

The discussion events will take place at a number of Café Scientifique groups over the next three months. The theme of these meetings will be: ‘The 100,000 Genomes Project; would you have your genome sequenced?’

The first group held in Basingstoke proved to be very popular, with over 50 people attending and the resulting Q&A session lasting more than an hour. There are a further five meetings planned across the region:

6th December Bournemouth

12th December Southampton

16th January Isle of Wight

6th February Winchester

7th February Salisbury

All are welcome to attend, and details for each meeting are available through the links above. If you would like any further details please contact Catherine Mercer.
