Introduction to fetal genomics

An afternoon workshop aimed at those involved in referring and consenting women with high-risk pregnancies

On Friday 16th June, The North West Coast Genomics Healthcare Alliance and Liverpool Health Partners are holding an event for all healthcare professionals involved in pre-birth screening. The afternoon session will cover prenatal microarray testing and the appropriate consent process.

The programme is aimed at paediatricians, neonatologists, obstetricians, fetal medicine specialists, midwives (geneticists and trainees), community midwives and GPs. The afternoon will begin with a series of talks covering: the difference between a post-natal array and a fetal array; current and future technologies in non-invasive pre-natal testing; and consulting and consent issues. The programme will conclude with a final working group exercise allowing attendees to practise taking consent and dealing with results.
