Have your say on the personalisation of cancer care

NHS England with other partners, have organised a series of events to gather opinion and raise support for the implementation of genomics

Alongside Macmillan, Cancer Research UK and NHS Horizons, NHS England and Genomics England have organised four regional events this spring to explore how genomics can be embedded into personalised cancer care.

The events, titled 'Genomics and Personalisation of Cancer Care', aim to seek opinion on the best ways in which genomic medicine can be embedded into care. They will enable those working within NHS Genomic Medicine Centres (GMCs) to engage with members of the public and other healthcare professionals to reflect on the transformation that has already taken place and consider the changes that will be needed in the future.

The meetings will be facilitated by Dr Helen Bevan, OBE, Chief Transformation Officer for the NHS and the NHS Horizons team.

Open to all

Organisers are keen to stress that everyone is welcome and to encourage anyone interested to join one of the events so that all views can be considered. The aim is to widen support for the implementation of regional action plans to introduce genomic medicine into routine cancer care across the NHS from September 2018 onwards, following the completion of the world leading 100,000 Genomes Project for cancer and rare disease.
