HEIs invited to bid for genomics pedagogy opportunity

The Genomics Education Programme is seeking to partner with a higher education institution to develop an innovative pedagogical package for educators

NHS England’s Genomics Education Programme (GEP) is seeking a higher education institution (HEI) to develop a bespoke package to pedagogically upskill the genomics educator workforce.

The package, called the Genomics Pedagogy Scheme (GPedS), will comprise three arms:

  1. a PhD fellowship;
  2. a level-7 qualification; and
  3. a CPD programme.

With genomics a key part of the 10 Year Health Plan‘s goals around the prediction and prevention of disease, this is an exciting time for prospective suppliers to further their involvement in genomics education.

Educating the educators

GPedS is key to the professional development of genomics educators in the NHS, who are pivotal in supporting the healthcare workforce in genomics. The GEP also recognises that creating opportunities for learning and development can support staff retention and ultimately improve service delivery for the benefit of patients and families.

The tender invites HEIs with the ability to develop and deliver all three arms of this programme of work. The contract is worth up to £700,000 (excluding VAT) and will span 40 months.
