Welcome to GeNotes, our new genomics resource for clinicians
Expert-written GeNotes scenarios cover when, why and how to request genomic testing – and what to do when results come back
With the launch of the National Genomic Test Directory bringing equitable access to genomic testing across England, it’s vital that healthcare professionals have an understanding of the role of genomics in their practice. To support them in this, NHS England’s National Genomics Education team is delighted to announce the launch of its free educational resource GeNotes (genomic notes for clinicians).
Developed in collaboration with clinical experts across the NHS, GeNotes offers ‘just-in-time’ information about when, why and how to request genomic testing, as well as support in feeding back results to patients – all underpinned by additional opportunities for build knowledge.
Two levels of learning
GeNotes is organised into two tiers of content: the first tier, In the Clinic, consists of concise clinical scenarios designed to be accessed either during or just before a patient appointment. Each scenario covers what a clinician needs to know to determine whether their patient is eligible for genomic testing and what action needs to be taken.
The second tier, Knowledge Hub, acts as an encyclopaedia of further learning resources designed to deepen clinicians’ understanding of genomics in medicine.
GeNotes launches this month with more than 60 resources across In the Clinic and the Knowledge Hub, with Oncology as the first featured specialty.
GeNotes in your specialty
GeNotes expert working groups are busy developing collections in many other specialties. Paediatrics, primary care and fetal and women’s health will be the next to launch, with many others to follow.
