Healthcare science week, 13-19 March 2023, is an annual week of celebration and awareness-raising for the many careers in healthcare science.

The week is an opportunity to showcase the vital role healthcare science has played over the 75 year history of the NHS and inspire the scientific workforce of the future.

This year, Professor Dame Sue Hill is leading a special webinar on 15th March which will showcase four exemplary programmes of work from across the healthcare science community.

  • Physical sciences – Clinical engineering helping revolutionise neonatal resuscitation care in Nottingham and beyond
  • Life sciences – The ongoing response to COVID
  • Bioinformatics – Rapid whole genome sequencing service
  • Physiological sciences – Implementation of the UKAS Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) accreditation scheme in Birmingham

Who should attend

Anyone with an interest in healthcare science is welcome to join this session, including current NHS healthcare science staff, members of professional bodies, academia and partner organisations who work with the NHS.

Those looking to join the healthcare science community from education and/or a career change are also welcome, but please note this session is not focused on careers or recruitment into healthcare science. Please visit the NHS Health Careers pages if you would like more information on the different roles available and entry routes into healthcare science.
